Introducing Clay + Canvas Camp: an exciting two-week long program for young artists ages 11–15, set in Art Omi: Education's brand-new, air-conditioned, state-of-the-art creative space at Art Omi: Pavilions in Chatham.

In this multi-disciplinary camp, young artists will break the boundaries between two-dimensional imagery and three-dimensional forms. Drawing inspiration from the contemporary works found throughout the Art Omi landscape and beyond, campers will explore how texture, color, and structure inform one another. All skill levels are welcome.

The morning session is dedicated to ceramics led by teaching artist, Jojo Dzielski. After a lunch and social time break, the afternoon session will be spent painting with teaching artist, Ever Baldwin. 

What to Expect

Experimental Painting
Move beyond the brush. We will dive into both traditional techniques and unconventional methods, layering to create expressive, process-driven works on a variety of surfaces.

Tactile Ceramics
From hand-building techniques to surface design, students will learn to treat clay as a canvas, exploring how form and volume interact with visual narratives.

Curiosity-Led Discovery
Rather than focusing solely on a finished product, our focus is on the journey of making, encouraging students to take risks and develop their own unique artistic voice.

Meet The Teachers

Josephine “Jojo” Dzielski is a teaching artist in Catskill, NY. Her personal artwork includes functional ceramics, printmaking, and collage. Her teaching artist career is focused on advocacy and community building through vocational training and art making with kids, teens, and adults. She focuses on creating inclusive environments for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities fostering interdependent relationships and spaces. She and her wife recently opened West Bridge Tea & Art, located in Catskill, NY offering a Gluten-Free Bakery and cafe alongside a Community Arts Studio. The studio aims to offer an inclusive space and is handicap accessible. Josephine holds three Bachelors degrees from the SUNY New Paltz which include a B.S. in Visual Arts, a B.A. in French, and a B.S. in Arts Education. She is in her final year at Antioch University New England, earning her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy.

Ever Baldwin is a painter based in Catskill, New York. Their work explores color, shape, and texture through abstract paintings inspired by nature and the body, extending from the canvas into sculptural wooden frames carved specifically for each piece in response to its composition. Ever holds a BFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Ever’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in New York, Los Angeles, and internationally. As a teaching artist, Ever encourages students to experiment, trust their instincts, and discover a personal creative voice through hands-on exploration.
