Our Saturday Workshop Summer Series heats up this season with artist, designer, musician, and teacher, Jef Scharf (aka Wolfy Part II)! Kids can expect a different art making experience each week as they explore a variety of materials, techniques, and ways of expressing themselves through art of all kinds. This program will be held entirely outdoors with art-making occurring under the open-air Education Pavilions. As always, Art Omi: Education will deliver engaging, developmentally-appropriate projects that encourage curiosity, experimentation, and critical thinking.
Jef Scharf was born in Novelty, Ohio. He is a master screen printer, designer, musician, and installation artist. He studied at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, CIA and had the unique honor of attending Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2000 and 2021. He was a founder and owner of Kayrock Screen Printing in Brooklyn, NY until 2011. During this time he was given the nickname Wolfy Part II. Wolfy created rock posters, t-shirts and music. Jef had shows at Pierogi Gallery, printed art editions, collaborated with other artists like Reed Anderson, Maya Hayuk and Amy Sillman. Eventually these two personas and practices merged into one person. He now lives and works at being an artist and father in Gallatin NY. His works are in the permanent collections of The MoMA, The Whitney, The Met, and The New York Public Library.
