A new series of integrative arts workshops for homeschooled children. Guided by teaching artists, participants will gain hands-on exposure to various art forms.

Music in Space in Time is led by local musician and teaching artist Mike Pagnani, who has taught music in Columbia County for over 10 years. Designed for alternatively-schooled children ages 8-12, Music in Space and Time explores music from theoretical and historical perspectives through participatory and hands-on activities both indoors and outside in The Fields Sculpture Park.

Course dates:

  • July 12 - 16

In this course we will build expressive drawing skills using the landscape and sculpture at Art Omi as reference and inspiration. Using a range of media including charcoal, pencil, ink, and pastel we will explore fundamental 2 dimensional art principles such as perspective, value, form and texture. Expanding our understanding of observational drawing, we will experiment with scale, format, and subject matter in order to find unique modes of personal expression. Our studio time will consist of quick sketches and drawing games, viewing work by contemporary and historical artists, and extended individual projects throughout the sculpture park. Materials included in tuition fee. No experience necessary! For teens age 12 - 16.
