Art Omi announces the appointment of Gavin Berger as Co-Executive Director following an extensive search.
"The Board is thrilled to welcome Gavin Berger, whose established record of leadership will help steward our organization at this exciting moment of institutional growth," said Francis Greenburger, Founder and Chairman of Art Omi Inc.
Berger brings over 20 years of successful experience as a top producer, programmer, strategist, innovator, marketer, fundraiser, consultant and executive in the entertainment and cultural worlds. He has been a powerful force in growing world-class venues including Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Rubin Museum, UC Berkeley Cal Performances, Berklee School of Music (NYC), the Kimmel Center, Walton Arts Center / Crystal Bridges, and the Banff Centre.
At Art Omi, Berger will work in partnership with Co-Executive Director Ruth Adams, who will continue to serve as artistic leader with an emphasis on international residency and exhibitions programming. Berger will focus his expertise in institutional advancement and financial sustainability as the organization progresses into its fourth decade.
“Art Omi has always held a special place in my heart,” said Berger. “As a resident of the Hudson Valley for nearly 20 years, I’ve admired Art Omi’s commitment to art and artists from across a range of disciplines. In joining this organization, I feel like I’ve found my home.”
Since 1991, Art Omi has provided for international artists working in a number of disciplines on the campus of the Art Omi Sculpture & Architecture Park which presents the work of contemporary artists and architects over 120 acres. In recent years, Art Omi has emerged as one of the preeminent cultural attractions in the upper Hudson Valley.
“Gavin brings tremendous knowledge and experience across the arts sector,” said Adams. “His enthusiasm and passion for the arts and strengthening organizations have already been invaluable assets to us. He’s quickly become a part of the fabric of Art Omi. I find the shared leadership model exciting and generative, and know that our partnership will enrich the organization and the communities we serve.”
