“We’re thrilled to provide an opportunity to an artist working in Art Omi’s local community to engage with peers from around the world,” says Executive Director Ruth Adams. “We have a wealth of incredible artistic talent and vision in our backyard, which has a long history as a place where artists make their homes. More recently, there has been an explosion of both well-known and emerging artists living and working here. Connecting our local community with the international arts world is a natural outgrowth of our core mission of fostering creative community across cultural and geographic boundaries.”

The Art Omi: Artists program nurtures deep creative and professional connections in a vibrant, social residency. Each summer, Art Omi invites 30 artists from around the world, to participate in the Art Omi: Artists residency program. Each session, a distinguished critic / curator is invited to participate as Critic-in-Residence, who leads discussions and makes individual studio visits throughout the duration of the program. In addition, the Visitors Program brings gallery dealers, curators, critics and artists to Art Omi’s campus throughout the residency, with the aim of fostering a connected community among professionals in the visual arts. Applications must be submitted digitally at artomi.submittable.com. Full guidelines available here.

By forming community with creative expression as its common denominator, Art Omi creates a sanctuary for the artistic community and the public to affirm the transformative quality of art.
