Fields Opening Day 2018
1 – 4:30 PM
Join us as we welcome new exhibitions to The Fields! In The Sculpture Park, we inaugurate Scapegoat by Nari Ward, Tamar Ettun's interactive work Blue inflatable, figurative steel sculptures by Lonnie Holley, and work by Sara Greenberger Rafferty. In the Newmark Gallery, an exhibition of twenty paintings by Thomas Nozkowski. In the Benenson Center café, a new site-specific installation by textile artist Rachel Hayes. Art Omi: Artists alum Sheena Rose presents a site-specific performance in Pond House at 1 p.m. Art Omi: Education will activate the Education Pavilions with a collaborative Block Party. All are invited to collaborate, experiment, and build with wooden planks and become a part of this day-long installation. Food is available at the Benenson Center café throughout the afternoon.
This weekly drawing group offers time and space for individuals who wish to continue to hone their drawing skills in an independent environment. Participants work indoors in the light-filled Benenson Visitors Center and gallery or outdoors in the landscape of The Fields sculpture park.
FIRST WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH
2018/2019 Playgroup meets on September 5, October 3, November 7, December 5, January 2, February 6, March 6, April 3, May 1, and June 5.
Join us on Saturday mornings for this popular workshop for young artists ages 5 - 12! Based on a weekly theme and inspired by artworks in The Fields, Architecture, and the Visitors Center Gallery, each workshop includes an outdoor adventure and a hands-on artmaking activity. Led by teaching artists, children are divided into two groups by age and participate in developmentally appropriate projects that encourage curiosity, experimentation, and creative thinking through a variety of materials and experiences.
