Art Omi: Writers Reading + BBQ

Benenson Visitors Center & Gallery

 

A distinguished group of international writers and translators currently in residence at Art Omi: Writers will read from their works. Following the event, Art Omi invites visitors to gather for a barbeque feast and reception with the writers, for which donations are appreciated.

Sunday Music on the Patio: Jane Aquilina, Josh Conners + Otto Gardner

Located at Café Omi (Benenson Visitors Center)

 

Jane Aquilina and Josh Conners, a local duo (guitar and vocals) bringing a versatility to classic standards, jazz and blues compositions. Josh is a seasoned multi-instrumentalist and composer. He can be seen and heard in local venues (Blue Plate, Half Moon) and various venues in the Hudson Valley. Jane is a recent transplant from New York City and very active in the cabaret community in Manhattan. She has been performing in various venues for the last 15 years including The Green Room 42, The Metropolitan Room and The Duplex. Josh and Jane are excited to make their debut at Art Omi.

The Cafe Omi menu is lovingly prepared by Chef Rita Soares-Kern with organic and local ingredients from The Chatham Berry Farm and mimosas from Hillsdale Fine Wine & Spirits with fresh lavender from Ironwood Farm.


Ultra Pro: Sculptures That Cook

The Fields Sculpture Park


Join us for our second-annual Ultra Pro: Sculptures that Cook, a BBQ event free and open to the public!

Organized by Art Omi 2002 Artist Residency alum Michael Tong. Michael has invited 15-20 artists to create working grills, smokers and ovens for an afternoon barbecue event. Local farms are contributing delicious grillable foods and locally produced condiments. Select local chefs are invited to collaborate with artists on recipes and participate in judging.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of literary talent by the likes of authors whose cumulative credits span the globe.

Trick or Treat in The Fields

The Fields Sculpture Park

 

Join us at Omi for a free afternoon of Halloween fun! We'll provide art-making, hayrides, and a candy hunt amongst the sculptures. Come in your favorite costume, craft your own treat bag, and enjoy cider, popcorn and fresh apples in the park.

 

Free and open to the public.

 


Charles Clough, Clufffalo: Art Omi

Exhibition On View: September 2, 2017 - January 2, 2018
Benenson Visitors Center & Gallery and The Fields Sculpture Park

Paintings by Charles Clough will be on view in the gallery, including a collaborative work titled Clufffalo: Art Omi, which was created by 150 visitors on site during a free public painting workshop on September 2, 2017. Free and open to the public.

Free Artful Playgroup for Toddlers

9 AM - 10:30 AM
First Wednesday of each month (September - June)
Ages 2-4
Located at the Benenson Visitors Center

Learn about Art Omi through the eyes of your little artist! Gather with other families of our growing Omi community for a morning of play, exploration, and art making as we learn about ourselves and the world around us. Using artworks by renown contemporary artists in the gallery and sculptures in The Fields as inspiration, toddlers and their caregivers will investigate color, shape, form and more through multi-sensory experiences. This indoor/outdoor program will include a Circle Meeting, Art Adventure, Making, Storytime, Movement, and Independent Play Time.


This program is free and open to the public. No need to pre-register. Playgroup meets on September 6, October 4, November 1, December 6. January 3, February 7, March 7, (no April Playgoup), May 2, and June 6.

Weekends with full lunch menu & weekdays with drinks and snacks, 11 AM - 4 PM 


Café Omi, located in the Visitors Center at The Fields Sculpture Park, serves seasonal lunch specials, soups, salads and sweets. Our menu rotates weekly and is carefully craſted by our talented local chefs. Café Omi is proud to offer the freshest seasonal ingredients and produce sourced from local farms and purveyors in Columbia County.
